2009/2010 Season Review

The 2009/2010 season was a great success. The following provides a summary of the statistics and feedback gathered over the course of the season and the end of season survey.

Season Survey

In June the SQDG issued our first ever season survey. The results of the 2009/2010 Season Survey have been tabulated and we are pleased to share our findings:

  • The majority of respondents attended 3 or more sessions during the season.
  • Attendees enjoyed presenters that focused on personal experiences and lessons learned in their presentations.
  • Suggestions for improvement included:
    • the meeting space was small and often overcrowded
    • our website and email communication need improvement
    • our location isn't convenient for people who work outside of the downtown core
  • Topic suggestions for future presentations included demos of free tools that assist testers, testing in agile, and more talks on overall software quality rather than the focus on testing.
  • Almost half the respondents attended the February 2010 networking event. The majority are interested in attending future networking events.
Session Evaluations

At each session our attendees are provided with an evaluation form that provides valuable feedback to our presenters and the SQDG team. The following is a summary of both the statistics and the feedback gathered over the course of the 2009/2010 season.

Feedback
  • Overall participants were pleased with the presentations offered during the season and rated our presenters very well.
  • The most popular session was "Testers - Get Out of the Software Quality Business" by Michael Bolton. This was our highest attended session with over 70 attendees.
  • We received a number of great future topic ideas including agile, automation testing, experience based reports, testing tools, test management, testing techniques, and technical topics.
Program Improvement

The SQDG team is committed to offering an outstanding season of presentations and appreciates the feedback provided by our attendees. Based on the feedback received from the 2009/2010 season we have actioned the following improvements:

  • Secured a larger venue to host our meetings.
  • Designed and launched a new website and new newsletter.
  • Based on the feedback from Michael Bolton's "Testers: Get Out of the Quality Assurance Business" presentation, we are looking to bring Michael back for the upcoming season.
  • Working to incorporate topic suggestions into the upcoming season.
  • Organizing new session formats to generate discussion between participants. Check out the new Lightning Talks for more information.

Thank you to everyone who filled out a session evaluation form and those who participated in the survey. We will be looking for feedback again during the 2010/2011 season, so please take the time to participate and let us know how we are doing! We hope you enjoy the 2010/2011 season.
